Custom Color Template

I have made an Excel template with my own colors for fills and
gridlines. How do I have new Excel sheets automatically use that
template? Can I get existing workbooks to use that template?

Using XP Home with Excel 2000.

If you save that workbook as a template named book.xlt in your XLStart folder,
then all new workbooks will inherit those colors.

If you open a workbook (book1.xls, say) with your new colors and another
workbook (book2.xls, say), you could do this:

Tools|Options|Color Tab
Use the copy colors from box and copy from book1.xls.

Don't forget to save your workbook.

The color palette applies to the entire workbook, which is probably
not a problem since that seems to be what you really want in the
second part of your question.

Copy color palettes between workbooks
HELP --> Wizard --> copy palette
1 Open the workbook that contains the color palette you want to copy.
2 Switch to the workbook to which you want to copy the color palette.
3 On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Color tab.
4 In the Copy Colors From box, click the workbook that contains the color palette you want to copy.
