custom animation 2004

I am using a G4 Macintosh with OSX Panther 10.3.8. with a 1.2 ghz processor.
Am using custom animation extensively. Specifically slow dissolves (up to
7 seconds) and long fades. Several images will be on one slide and enter at
different times. What I am noticing is that it is a bit bumpy. As if my
processor can't keep up with my request. It shouldn/t be so. I'm beginnig
to think that some of these animation options are not quite up to speed yet.
Is there anything I can do? Optimizing by use of certain files etc...? The
picture files are JPEG and are anywhere between 2 and 10 mb. I have
photoshop if changes in formatiing seem like a good idea. I AM USING
POWERPOINT FOR MACINTOSH 11.0

I am not a Mac person but I can tell you a 10 Meg image is going to choke
PPT regardless of what it is running on. Reduce the resolution before
inserting the images into PPT.

This is primarily a Windows group; you may want to post also in
Public.Mac.Office.PowerPoint to get answers from Mac-literate folk.

That may be the problem. Your files are almost assuredly WAY over the top
sizewise.

I'd open them in Photoshop, downsample them to 1024x768 or whatever video
setting your mac runs at, then save again to a new file. Insert that instead of
the other ones into PPT.

Try changing the format to TIFF. I had a big improvement on the MAC when I
changed from jpg to tiff.
