I have a Dell Latitude laptop C600 running Windows XP Pro. My cursor
has started to drift on the monitor. Sometimes very slow - and
sometimes so fast I can't control it. The laptop has a pointing
'finger' and a touch pad. Also connected to my laptop is a Logitech
Bluetooth mouse. I can't find anywhere in my Control Panel to make
adjustments to the pointer or touch pad. The Bluetooth mouse has been
connected to my system for years - so I don't suspect it as the
culprit. Any suggestions out there? Thanks.........

Believe or not, it's not unusual for conflicts between the touchpad and the
mouse to appear.

If that doesn't help, you may have to install the Synaptics tool.. it can
disable the touchpad to stop the conflict. Read the instructions &
additional information in the Majorgeeks download page.

If it's an optical mouse, it could be that the laser/LED is failing, or
the photo-sensitive transistor that sees the movement. Failing mouse in
other words.. Did you change the surface it lies on? If a glossy
surface, that can confuse the mouse. You need a dull porous surface.

Try removing the touchpad from the Device Manager to see if that helps,
or just disable it, if that option exists.

Thank you - installed the Synaptics driver and disabled the pointing
stick. Now, all seems well.

That worked - thanks.
