Curious issue with XP/98 network

NetExpertz-
After restoring my XP from the SP2 experience, I lost my network between XP
and 98 machine(s).
Finally fixed the network and printer sharing issues, but, my XP is in a
different workgroup than the 98 machine.
XP is in: "Mshome"
98 is in: "Workgroup"
(Once I changed this to "Workgroup", from "Mshome", my connection(s) began
working again, weird, huh?)
I can connect, print, share and all, but would prefer using a single
workgroup.
How do I place my XP machine in the "Workgroup" group and remove it from the
"Mshome" group?
Should I leave well enough alone: "Don't break it if it's fixed"?

Ideas?

you can have two groups to share each other if you logon the same user and
password. However, the network browser will work better if they are in the
same workgroup.

Did you run the Network setup wizard...
I used the Start/Control panel/System.... method initially because the
wizard will not run on the 98 machine:
"Cannot detect your hardware and settings, click finish to cancel"
(Or something like that).
I've tried it numerous times, same result.
My network and internet share work, how can the NIC not be detected??
It seems that using the wizard is the perferred method but I would be
CAUTIOUS as other parameters could also be reset. >

This is exactly why (wizard not running on 98 notwithstanding) I want to do
the rename manually. As I wrote below:
I'll try your suggestion about Start/control panel/system....
Thanks Dave,

Robert-
Thanks for your help, I do appreciate it. One problem, though; you restated
my question. I need the how part, not the what part.
How do I do this?

Dave-
That did the trick (Start/controlpanel/system/name).
Nevermind the above message (Except Thanks!)
I appreciate the helpful suggestions and tone of your post. Thanks for not
condescending to me....(Not that you would, but read some of the "answers"
in these groups....)
