Ctrl+Home failure when sheet protected

I have a problem that I cannot find solution for on any site . so .

I am using Excel 2007 and with XP2 fully up to date.

When I 'protect' a worksheet so only unlocked cells are accessable,
Ctrl+Home will not work, and neither will Ctrl+End. You can move to any of
the unlocked cells via enter, arrow keys or mouse and edit in them but
Ctrl+Home will not take you to the first unlocked cell.

Compounding this conundrum is the fact that the original master worksheet
that I used as the basis for the new master in the same workbook, works
fine. None of the worksheets copied using the second new master will allow
Ctrl+Home to work. Weird!!

Any thoughts on what or why would be appreciated?

Thank you.

I think I have found out my own answer to what at least.

Ctrl+Home is looking for column A. If Column A or cells in column A are
locked and extend below Split Cells range then Ctrl+Home wont work.

More testing to do I feel.
