I've got a new laptop with Windows XP Home SP2 preinstalled. ctfmon
loads at startup. Should I get rid of it? If so, how?

Thank you, LFR & MP. I read the article. I'm not sure I want to
remove it -- here are the more advanced questions.

I DO use alternate keyboard layouts at times: Greek, Spanish, Polish,
Japanese. I would like to start using teset to speech and speech
input. I haven't tried any of the speech input methods that come with
XP yet, but I tried Dragon NS on my desktop before it crashed, and
liked it.

If I get rid of ctfmon.exe,
Will I be able to use the keyboard layouts for the languages
above?
Will I be able to use the XP Speech to Text feature?
Will I be able to use Dragon NS' Speech to Text feature?

Thanking you and awaiting your answers with baited breath, I remain,

Respectfuly yours,

One way to find out, open Msconfig and on the Startup tab, uncheck the
Startup Item that loads Ctfmon. Then click OK and reboot the system and
test.

Reverse the process when done.

To start Msconfig, go to Start - Run and type msconfig then press
enter.
