Crystal Reports Viewer question

hello,

much to my surprise, the version of crystal that comes with visual studio.net 2003 does not have a
report preview window. i found out that i have to build a form in visual basic.net and use the
crystal view object to be able to view forms. the form works fine for me, so i created a .exe of the
form and emailed it to a friend because i thought they would be able to use the form/.exe without
having visual studio.net installed. that doesn't seem to be the case. as we will be working on this
project from 2 different locations, she will be buying visual studio. what i'd like to know is once
she has visual studio.net installed, will my .exe form work on her computer, or do i need to send
some additional files as well.

i seem to be having the same problem. i created an app
that launches a crystal report. works fine from my
machine but when i build the setup project and install
onto someone else's machine, it gives an error about
needing a dll. so, i copied the dll over and registered
it but still have the same error. it appears there is
something more to the crystal reports viewer object than i
thought. i still haven't figured out what is happening so
i will be interested to see if anyone can point out what
is going on.

hi mark,

the only thing i can think of, from my limited vs.net knowledge is that it is somehow references
something in the registry.

i hope that someone will be able to bail us out of this one.

You should include Crystal Report's merger modules into your setup project,
so that necessary Crystal Report's runtime can be installed on user's
computer (To require every user to install Visual Studio to run Crystal
Report is so unthinkable.)

As long as they installed Crystal with .Net, yes, it'll work...

now i have to work on creating a setup file for people that don't have crystal.
