Crystal Reports and custom objects question

T

Terry

I am brand new to using Crystal Reports and am trying to generate a report
based on a custom object - in another project. I have a layered design, with
all my business objects in a seperate project. I created a new project as
part of the solution, added a reference to the project containing my business
objects, created a datasource that points to one of the objects and then
tried to create CR based on the object. The data tab (in the CR wizzard)
refuses to 'see' the datasource I have set up. Does this mean that I have to
define the report in the same project as the class definition? If that is
so... that sure sucks!
Maybe I am just missing something... can someone point me in the right
direction?

Hi Terry,

Regarding on the Crystal reports specific issue, I would recommend you try
posting in the crystal reports community support site.

#Crystal Reports
http://technicalsupport.businessobjects.com/cs/forums/13/ShowForum.aspx

Or for Crystal Reporsts Visual Studio issue, there has a dedicated group in
MSDN forum, you may find some useful information there:

#Crystal Reports for Visual Studio
http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/showforum.aspx?forumid=77&siteid=1

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely,

Steven Cheng

Note: The MSDN Managed Newsgroup support offering is for non-urgent issues
where an initial response from the community or a Microsoft Support

up response may take approximately 2 business days as the support
professional working with you may need further investigation to reach the
most efficient resolution. The offering is not appropriate for situations
that require urgent, real-time or phone-based interactions or complex
project analysis and dump analysis issues. Issues of this nature are best
handled working with a dedicated Microsoft Support Engineer by contacting
