05/02/2007 09:57:04 Host location: none
05/02/2007 09:57:04 General prefs: using your defaults
05/02/2007 09:57:04 Deffering communication for 5 min 3 sec
05/02/2007 09:57:04 Reason: requested by project
05/02/2007 09:57:10 Sending scheduler request: Requested by user
05/02/2007 09:57:10 (not requesting new work or reporting completed tasks)
05/02/2007 09:57:15 Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 507]
05/02/2007 09:57:15 Deferring communication for 5min 3 sec
05/02/2007 09:57:15 Reason:requested by project

Then it just hangs nothing happens until i goto Projects tab & press Update Tab!

Have you upped the 'connect to network' time yet as said by Ady in the thread you linked to??? No....

Those entries in your log are normal for BOINC, although it should be running a WU. Do you get any Red entries in your BOINC log?
Do you have any problems under the Transfers tab of BOINC?

I have had zero probs with the new BOINC version, are you sure its not a prob on your end or with your prefs?

Here it is again.
Ady said:
Heres the latest on that problem:
We had an outage today for about 4 hours which ended at 18:00 UTC. The error was due to a problem with mounting of the data filesystem on one of our web servers. This issue only involved the BOINC system and it only impacted some of those members. These members will see errors in the transfers tab of the BOINC client for both uploads of results and downloads of new work. The BOINC client will automatically retry the transfers when the back off timer expires so members do not need to do anything. If however you wish to, then you can use the 'Retry Now' button for each item on the list and they will be able to upload and download correctly.

We apologize for the error and we are working on resolving the root cause of the problem to prevent it happening again in the future.

At this time the system is back in normal operations and members can upload and download work correctly.
Hopefully everyone is back up and running now - just remember to increase your connection time to get a nice 1-2 days queue of work to cover these occasions :thumb:

Have you increased the 'connect to network' time yet?
Do you have any problems under the Transfers tab of BOINC?

If its still not working, then its a problem on your end me thinks. You could try resetting the project, under the Projects tab.

I have just been through me BOINC log, and my pc has been up since the beginning of the month with no errors reported yet. I am also on server version 507 like yourself. If that helps. :)

Will see how it goes tonight/tomorrow if no joy may remove & then download Boinc fresh.
Cheers for the Help:thumb:

BOINC dont 'report' the WU right away! The fact that it is 'Ready to Report' means that it has been uploaded.....Just waiting for the next time it connects to the server to report it. Its a two step process. ;)

Just leave it to get on with it......

If thats the 'problem' you have been talking about, then dont worry thats normal, thats why i kept asking the questions that you never answered! :)

If you can't wait for Boinc to automatically connect and report those results then you can always click on 'Update' in the Projects tab ;)

...remember that the longer you have the 'connect to network every .... days' set in your WCG device profile, then the longer it takes between uploading the results and reporting them.

Setting it to 2 days means you will cache 2 days of work to tide you over any outages, and the results will be reported about twice a day on average, however the results will still be uploaded immediately :thumb:
