Crosstab Report Headings

I have created a crosstab query with the last name of employees meeting
certain criteria as column headings. Naturally, the employees meeting the
criteria can change so the column headings change; but report designs require
constant field names. How do I design a report for this crosstab that will
always run and display the whataever last names of employees are in that run
of the crosstab?

What is in your row headings and in your Value field, David?
Can you change the report around so that the Names are the Row headings?
Does it really need to be a crosstab or would you be better served with a
multicolumn report which breaks into a new column for each employee?
Will there always be the same number of employees who meet the criteria?

The Row Headings are possible certifications employees can hold and the Value
is whether or not the employee holds that specific certification. Although
Interchanging the row and column headings would result in constant columns,
there is a very long list of possible certifications (51 of them) so the
report would be very wide. The report is run for a specific project and the
number of employees on projects vary, but the number on any given project is
<20.

This is an outstanding approach. I knew I would have to create some vehicle
for assigning constant column names and then translate them back in the
report but wasn't sure of an efficient way to do that.

Thanks for the help!

I'm so glad you figured out how to implement this solution. Every time I get
asked a question about how to use it, I have to find and open the sample to
see how I did it.
