Crosstab queries need to be able to use form references

When writting crosstab queries I cannot get them to work if I use a reference
to a named field on a form. The same query will work as a select query, but
not as a crosstab. If I move the selection into a select query and then join
in the select query to the crosstab query the crosstab query will also not
work again. This seems very counter intuitive.

A quick search of Google Groups would help you find the answer. You must set
the Query Parameter data types.

First thing, with a crosstab query you MUST declare your parameters and if
any
other queries are used in the crosstab their parameters must also be
declared.

Open the query in design mode
Select Query: Parameters from the Menu
Fill in the EXACT name of the parameter in column 1
Select the data type of the parameter in column 2

Thank you. I guess this was a change in Access 2000. I was able to do this
in 98 and prior.

Thank you.

I now that it was this way in Access 97, because that is where I ran into
the problem. In versions prior to that -- I don't know.

I believe you don't need to specify your parameter data types if you provide
the Column Headings values. Otherwise, this seems to have been the rule as
far back as I can remember.
