Crosstab Loosing shape

hi, I have created a crosstab report with 3 coulmns which displays tthe
layout the way i want it. It has Firms as row headings, tools as column
headings and count of assets as value.
When the report is created it daplays as a crosstab but when it is exported
by a make table query it changes to a three column report, Firms, Tools and
value (Assets). I want to export this as a crosstab into a report without
any more manipulation in Excel.
Is there something I am missing?
