cross reference

how can i cross reference two differnt excel spreedsheets.
I have two different lists of people and addresses i want
to know whitch people are on both lists.

In the first spreadsheet in a blank cell type '='. Then
switch to the second spreadsheet and left click in the
cell you want to reference. Go back to the first
spreadsheet and hit return. The contents of the second
spreadsheet should now be in that cell.

The formula bar should contain something like
=[Book2]Sheet1!$A$1
where Book2 is the name of your second spreadsheet and
Sheet1 is the name of the worksheet. Remove the $ sign and
you can copy and paste as usual to pick up the other cell
values.
