Cross Ref - Auto Shading

I'm using Word 2002

When a Cross Ref is created it is automatically shaded in Gray. Is there a
way to turn this shading off? I can't figure it out.

In Word, click on Tools | Options | View | Show: Field shading: When
selected | OK.
 
Thanks for the quick response. I assume this only affects the text on my
screen but when others view the document the shading would still be there
unless they choose the same option?
