Cropmarks and weird menus - previous solutions given do not work

I'm having the same problem with cropmarks showing on my documents. They
don't print out, but they are annoying none-the-less. I've already done a
search on this topic and tried solutions given (tried the support site's
solution of disabling all languages except English and I don't have "Text
Boundaries" turned on). Nothing has worked.

I also have weird Asian options in menus and dialogue boxes. For example,
the Format Paragraph dialogue box has a tab called "Asian Typography" - don't
know how that got there. Again, I only have English enabled.

This is on my office computer. While it hasn't affected my work yet, I'd
like to be able to turn these "features" off. I work in a interoffice
publishing department and consistency between all of our computers is
essential. We have had ongoing issues with Office XP and consistency (like
our Normal.dot templates changing all the time).

Hi Jen,

If multiple language features have been installed at work
or if they're using the volume/corporate (non retail)
licensed Multi-language edition of Office then the
extra tabs you're seeing may be from the company installed
defaults.

Did you check in Start=>Program=>Microsoft Office Tools
and use the Office Language Language Settings Tool to
remove all items from the right hand box?

It's also possible that the template or document you have
opening includes multiple language features within the file.

Try holding the safe mode (ctrl) key down when starting Word to see if
you get the same results.

Hi Bob -

Thanks for the suggestions. I do believe we are on a large corporate type
license, although each computer has Office installed on the hard drive
(versus a limited number of licenses on a server type setup). We are quite a
large office with over 1,300 employees at this location. But, my department
has different setups than the rest of the company for our specialized needs.
And we are all setup the same - or at least, that is the goal.

Yes. I only have English enabled.

Is there any way to check this? We all use the same templates and the same
"Normal.dot" template. The crop marks and Asian menus come up no matter what
document I have open. This doesn't happen to anyone else in my office. It
just showed up one day and I have no idea why.

Ok! I did this and didn't get the crop marks or the Asian menu options. So,
what might this mean?

Any help or ideas you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Ok. After starting Word in safe mode a couple of times, the problem seems to
have corrected itself! How very strange. Kinda like Word was "reset."
Anyways, thanks very much for that little tip! I would have never thought of
that.

I had noted the same behavior in Word (not sure when it started, had ignored
it to date, though very annoying) and this resolved it for me also.
