crooked connector lines

How can I make my connector lines between shapes in an organization chart
straight? Although I draw from one blue square to another and lock the
connector into place it is crooked no matter what I do. This usually happens
when my two shapes are very close together.

When I tried to make a continuous connector line and then send it to the
back, the line won't go backward and hide itself behind the shapes; it just
remains visible on top of the shapes.

Sometimes I also get bumps between connector lines that won't align. I read
a previous response that suggested we try changing the behavior of connector
lines but I can't find anything like that in my toolbar.

What version of Org Chart are you using? Or what version of PowerPoint?
