Critical Updates not accessible

Everytime I try to check for updates for Windows this is
the message I get. And I already am using XP...any ideas
as to why this happens??? Also anytime i try to check my
hotmail acct, i get the message, to upgrade to IE6 when I
already have IE6 and uninstallinga dn reinstaling doesn't
make a difference the problem still occurs.
