Creative Labs Settlement re: 24bit/96Hz

"... Litigation concerns the first Audigy and Extigy lines
of sound cards manufactured by Creative Labs, Inc.
(“Creative”) which plaintiff claims were
falsely advertised in that they did not process sound at 24
bit/96kHz for all functions: Audigy
ES, Audigy Platinum, Audigy Platinum EX, Audigy Gamer,
Audigy MP3+, and Extigy
sound cards (all of these are called “Sound Card(s)”).

Creative denies the claims made in
this Litigation, and denies that anyone has been harmed or
deserves compensation in relation to the claims."

"If you wish to submit a claim, you must
do so by September 22, 2005"

25% off purchase from their website, if you really wanted to
do business with them again? Might be cheaper to get it
elsewhere though... Audigy 2 ZS for example is $100 on their
'site but $60 & up elsewhere. How they arrived at this
laughable settlement I'll never understand but regardless...

That's it! I'm suing you for deceptive posting! ;)

Well at least CL cards do exceed 96Hz, unlike 96KHz.

I have to think there is quite a double-standard in computer
hardware still, if your automobile sticker claimed it had a
feature but it didn't, would the courts merely order a
discount off your NEXT car purchased from same
manufacturer('s inflated retail price)?

You misunderstand the whole purpose of the litigation, it's
done for what the lawyers get out of it. They got considerably
more than a coupon. We all pay so the trial lawyers can play
their legal system slot machine for all it's worth.

(Now comes the liberal whine: "Oh but they are protecting
the poor little guy against the mean old corperations." )

Luck;
Ken
