Creation of desktop alerts for generic mail boxes

Hi,
Can you please tell me how to create desktop alerts for generic mail boxes?
Right now desk top alerts are popped up only for default inbox.

Thanks for your reply.

But unfortunately my company IT policy does not allow to install any
external software. May be I can install a code written in VB.

Can somebody update on this?
