Creating report from query

When I select a query from the query object bar and then select Report from the New Object Button, Access does not open the report feature.... It just returns me to the database screen like nothing happened.... All other functions continue to work?
 
Does this happen for all queries? How about tables? Can you create, design,
or open any reports?
