Hi I am trying to get the 2003 packager to insert the following into the registry on installation of the packed file

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Access\Security\Level
and the value has to be 1 to switch off the security warnings

By entering the values in the packager I can create the reg entry but it is created as a REG_SZ, not a DWORD value

The options in the Packager and what I entered are as follows
Current Use
Key = Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Access\Securit
Name = Leve
Value =

As I said this enteres the value as REG_SZ. Any idea how I can force the DWORD key within those options

Many thanks

Not withstanding the many issues with the security model in Access 2003
(which is why you are trying to do the registry thing), my response is how
impolite of your application to try to do this in the first place. If I
were a corporate IT guy dealing with your app, I'd swat your app from my
machines for making this change during the installation, since its a global
setting; not just one which impacts your app (Of course the IT gal could
control the ability to change that setting through establishing an Access
policy at the domain level anyway.) You might be able to offer this option
to the user when they run the app (with all the appropriate warnings about
what your app is trying to or going to do and its implications), but, to try
to do it via a non announced change in settings via an installation package
is somewhat disengenuous.
