Creating pivot table with multiple ranges in excel

I am having a problem with creating a pivot table with multiple consolidated
ranges. I have two tables that I would like to create a pivot table for.
Both tables contain three columns for example:

Item # Description Qty A

And

Item # Description Qty B

I would like to formulate a report that looks like:

Item # Description Qty A Qty B

When I generate the table, I get the correct total for Qty A and Qty B
however the description shows up as a value.

Does anyone know how to correct this?

Pivot tables are limited when created from multiple consolidation
ranges. There's an example here:

You'd have the most flexibility in your report if you store all the data
in the same worksheet, with Item, Description, Type and Qty as column
headings, e.g.

Item Description Type Qty
123 asdf A 12
234 lkjh B 15

Then, create the pivot table from that, with Item and Description in the
Row area, Type in the column area and Qty in the data area.

Thanks Debra, that helps tremendously. I have spent hours trying to get the
multiple consolidated s to work. I suppose the limitation is that one of the
columns contains test information which results in “0†column results.
