creating new email

Up until this morning whenever I'd type the first few characters of an email
address that I'd previously written to (in Outlook 2003), the email address
would pop up and I could select it and avid typing the entire address
myself. Now that "history" is gone. What might have happened to my system?
IS there a way to recover that history?

Sounds like your NK2 file may have been deleted. Look for a file with that
extension here:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

If possible see if you can restore it from a backup...
