Creating Multiple Accounts in OL2000/XP

Jason Heydasch

I've been reading on how to create multiple accounts
using Outlook 2000 and, say, Windows 95/98/ME but I can't
seem to find these directions for Windows XP.

In fact, I've done it before on Windows ME. When I went
into Control Panel > Mail, I could set up a new profile
but Control Panel > Mail in Windows XP only shows me the
internet e-mail accounts...the exact same screen that you
see if you do Tools > Accounts in Outlook 2000. So, how
do I create a new profile in WinXP?

Thanks,

JH

Change the Installation Type between IMO and CW
To change the installation type from IMO to CW, follow these steps:
1.. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2.. On the Mail Delivery Tab, click Reconfigure Mail Support.
3.. On the E-mail Service Options page, click to select the mail support
option you are switching to. Click Next.
4.. Read the warning message and then click Yes. Outlook will close.
5.. Start Outlook. The Windows Installer will start and install the
required files

Okay, I've done what you've said, and my user profile
(which I believe is setup as Administrator on XP) works
fine now but my wife's does not. When I load Outlook, it
gives me the following error message:

MAPI was unable to load the information service PSTPRX.DLL

I searched MS Support but the only thing it said to do
was to go back to the original Internet Mail
configuration by doing what you said: Tools > Options.
However, the "Tools" feature is now grayed out and the
only thing that's displayed in the main window of Outlook
is something similar to Windows Explorer.

Any clue?

Many thanks for your post.

This is because her mailprofile was created before you switched modes.
You'll have to recreate her mail profile (do not copy it);
Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles

To access your current pst-file in the new profile;
File-> Open-> Personal Data File...

To set it as the default delivery location;
Tools-> E-mail Accounts...

Okay,

Also to let you know, I started setting this Corp/WG mode
under my WinXP User account. And from my account, when I
go to Control Panel > Mail > Profiles, it lists both
profiles I setup but it DOES NOT list either when I view
this dialog box from within my wife's XP username.

I'm not sure if this was helpful information, I just
thought it was strange....

Thanks again,
