creating mailing labels from excel

Is there an easy set of steps to be used to create address
mailing labels from data found in normal excel
spreadsheets in rows and columns? I'm sure there is, but
I'm struggling to determine how?

Investigate the use of Word's mailmerge feature to get Excel data to labels.

Doing it strictly in Excel is difficult and involves much trial and error
formatting.
