I am trying to create a search function using Front Page component. I have
created the search page using the template. When I try to access the "Data
Source Catalog" in the task pane it is grayed out and can not be selected.
Can someone tell me how to turn this function on.

The server is running Front Page Extensions.

do you have the server web opened in FrontPage or the local disk based copy?
I believe you need the server web open (i.e. the address in current site
would be http:// something) to be able to access that.

The Data Source Catalog has nothing to do w/ the FP Search Template
- FP Search uses WAIS (on Unix based servers) and Index Catalog (on Windows based servers)
Data Source Catalog is used on WSS
- See http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA010788121033.aspx

It would appear that I need IT to create an "Index Catalog". Could you (or
anyone) give me detail instructions on how to create an "Index Catalog".

Another problem I am having is when someone tries to use the Suggestion or
Search function it ask for a Login / Password. Could someone tell me how to
remove the Login / Password.
