Creating custom icons

I am using Access97 and have created some custom icons in bmp format.
I have then associated these using the Access97 startup panel.
However, they do not appear on the taskbar as I desire.

Ideally I would like the to use transparency, which bmp doesn't
support. I have tried gif files but this approach doesn't seem to be
accepted.

Is there another format that I should use to create custom icon files?

Hi,
If you are taking about Icon .ico, first you have to convert your .bmp file
to .ico and then you can set to startup and for any other file .ico.

For converting the .bmp to .ico, you have down load software (freewares)
available on internet.
