Creating an "Object" that Launches an Animation

A

Awic\,\)

Hi there! Any of you peeps know how to go about doing this on Powerpoint
2000? I think i saw one on my PC a long time ago...too bad I cant remember
where it is now...& b4 I was able to break it down...

Here's what I'm trying to do:

1. Make any object (a picture, shape, text etc) w/in PPT that is
clickable..and when clicked (or mouse-overed) it shows another custom
animation of another object (picture, shape, graph etc.). Now I know you
there is the Action Settings option (to hyperlink programs and movie &sound
files)...but I cant seem to figure out if there is a way to launch a Custom
Animation (embedded within the same ppt page)...what's the Custom Show btw?
(it blaink?)

2. If and when issue #1 above is "answered", could I launch multiple and
separate "actions" or show different animations using just one "object":
I figured this is quite useful if I have say an "object" button that is for
example: "Show Answer"...and it shows the first answer...then click on the
same "Show Answer" button...to show another answer (the first answer just
stays put)...

Oh well, getting past question #1 is enough for me :)

Thanks for any suggestions...please dont tell me i have to create
macros...dunno how yet ;)~

In #1, you seem to want to animate an object by clicking another object. If
yes, then this was introduced in PowerPoint 2002 (XP). From PowerPoint 2002,
effects can be "triggered" by clicking on other objects and hence this
feature was called "Triggers". Both, #1 as well as #2, can be done using
Triggers. Do the following:
1. Create your answers in different shapes (rectangles, say).
2. Add entrance effects for each of the answers.
3. Click the drop down box of the effect, and select "Effect Options..."
menu item.
4. On the "Timing" tab, select "On Click" in the "Start" box.
5. Click "Triggers" button.
6. Select Start effect on click of.
7. Select the shape on which you will click to start the effect.
8. Repeat steps 3-7 for each of the answers. Always assign the same shape
for step 7.

Now during slide show, clicking the object will show the answer. Click again
and it will show the next answer and so on.
