Creating an MDE kills access

I am runnning a BE/FE DB with three different front ends. Two of the front
ends run fine as MDE's using an update tool I got from here and I have no
issues at all (proud). The third front end though I can't distribute to users
because every time I try and create an MDE Access locks completely. I havee
tried leaving it for a day to see if it will come back to life (I have
performance issues with my own PC from time to time so regurlarly get a 'not
responding' on Access only to wait it out and find it was fine) I have tried
everything to make the FE simpler and it actually runs like greased lightning
in MDB format however the users who will have access to it are very novice
and I am concerned about them breaking it. In the mantime my users are
waiting and waiting...

Any ideas???

Try creating a new, empty MDB and importing all the objects. Make sure you
set the relevant references and compile the database before making the MDE.
You could also try decompiling the database, compacting, then recompiling
it:
