Creating a line in a combined graph

Please forgive me if this is covered in a FAQ or a previous post, I
read and searched all over the place, but found no answers for this
question.

Brief bit of background: I have a series of reports that I need to
change from a spreadsheet format to a graph. I also have a single
number that is a projected volume number that I would like to have
reflected on the graph that I am creating from the spreadsheet.

I have been able to get the spreadsheet information into the graph and
into the format that I really like. My only problem is that the
projected number is either represented by a single column or by a
single point. I am currently unable to make that projected data
change places (go to another point on the X axis, or to create a line
either just a plain line or a trendline because it is only a single
point.

I would really like to have the projected data represented by either a
line across the graph or a column that is either behind all the other
columns or specifically behind each set of columns. I hope that made
some sense and I really hope that someone can help me figure out how
to create this graph the way I would like to have it.
