Creating a flow chart

I'm attempting to create a flow chart in Word XP and would like to include
text on the connector lines to a few boxes. How can I do that? I've tried
creating a
text box and rotating it to fit the line, but the text does not rotate.

In Word, text can be only horizontal or vertical.
