Stefan,
From what you posted, it sounds like I should let it put
the _ in front of the file folder name and leave it
alone.
Thomas,
When you refer to a subweb (excuse my ignorance), do you
mean that I need to create a separate website (different
address) to house the forum. I can't say that I'm clear
on the concept. That would mean that (as it's setup with
my ISP) that I'd have to create another account with them,
to post the discussion, if it has to be another site.
Alternatively, should I be interpreting it as just another
html page without the same structure. Alternative 3 - do
you mean to create another file folder within the same
website and put the page there. Sorry if I sound
confused ... it's a reflection of the truth (lol).
Thanks for all your posts. Useful information. I'll get
there ... it's all coming together. I'm happy with the
site, considering I've learned it all quite recently.
Still lots to learn, but that's a good thing. Diana

A discussion web doesn't need to be a subweb, however in
the long term you would wish that you had
made it a subweb. By using a subweb, you can then easily
archive the discussion web and create a new
one, you be sure that when publishing from your local to
your remote, the content will never be
overwritten unless you actual select to include subwebs.
Do you have a counter inserted into one of the pages in
the _includes folder, if so then FP will
create the counter file in the _includes folder under _private folder.

Stefan,
It doesn't have to be a subweb though, does it? I've
never done a discussion page so I'm just askin'
fer me own curiousity.
I do have a related question though... I created a
_includes folder for my included pages, then it
seems that FP also created _includes in the _private
folder, did I do something wrong? It works
fine...just curious again.

| | I just set out to create my first discussion page in FP2003. Right at the
| | start, I was faced with a decision on how to name the folder. It explained
| | that the underscore_ will force a the files for the page (or whatever) to be
| | hidden. What are the benefits of that or should I give the folder a name
| | that doesn't start with the underscore. I'm not sure how to ask this
| | question. If someone knows the pros and cons or whys and wherefore's, it
| | would be great. I cancelled the process for now. Thanks in advance.
