Hi,

I put in my Windows XP CD but when I restart my computer Windows XP is not booting up. How do I make the Windows XP CD Bootable?

Matt

The XP cd is bootable, you will have to check your BIOS
settings and see if your boot order is correct. you will
want the cd first.

Matt,
You might need to get in the system bios and set it up so
the systme will boot from CD as first choice.
Good luck

Besides the other recommendations for ensuring that the BIOS has boot
sequence to include your CD drive, you simply might be missing the
prompt that says to hit a key within a couple seconds of the prompt
appearing. Some BIOSes will display a prompt saying to hit a key within
a few seconds of the prompt appearing if you really want to boot from
the CD. If you don't hit a key, the boot from the bootable CD gets
skipped and the next device in the boot sequence gets tried.

The CD is bootable, but you have to tell the machine's BIOS to boot from
it. At Power on, hit the hotkey that gets into BIOS 'Setup' (most often
DEL, but check the manual). In that either

A Boot page (get to it with right arrow key and Enter). go down with
down arrow to the CD drive, push it to the top with the + on the number
pad.

or
A BIOS Settings page - go down to the Boot Order line, and use PageDn to
cycle it round to CD Rom, C:

Either way hit ESC< get to Exit, have the CD ready on the drive, and
Exit - Saving settings to reboot. You will usually be asked to confirm
when the CD is accessed that you want to boot it, by hitting a key

Change the BIOS to boot from CD. Have you tried that?

Also: many BIOS startups won't boot from CD if you just sit on your
@ss and wait. They will flash a message like "Press any key to boot
from CD..." and if you don't, they proceed to the next boot device.
