I have windows xp home and I see where you can put the XP
CD in and find a way to make a back up, but when I bought
this HP pavilion 511W, Windows XP-Home was already loaded
and there was no CD with it. I do have a CD burner on
this computer already. Any one know step by step, how I
would go about making a backup of my computer? Thanks in
Advance.

Dave, you will need to purchase a 3rd party application like Ghost or Drive
Image if you want to back up the complete hard disk.

HP put all the installation files into a hidden partition on the hard
disk, and have a means of invoking that at power up (hitting F10 IIRC).
You would have to have something that ran outside windows in order to
back that up. (eg BootIT NG, from http://www.BootitNG.com ($35
shareware - 30 day full functional trial) will do it).
To backup your whole system partition to CD will take quite a lot of CDs
- BootITNG or Drive Image or Ghost will do it for you
