Create Reverse Lookup zone or not ?

As I've read here normaly reverse lookup zones are not needed.
So far so good.

The problem I've had was that a lot of reverse lookup requests were
forwarded to the internet, because my DNS server couldn't find the zone.

So what to do ?

Should I create an empty zone and don't allow dynamic updates ?
One the one hand the DNS-server will not forward the requests to the
internet on the other hand I will not have any trouble with that "old"
reverse entries, that aren't deleted properly.

Would that be a good idea ?

You can create the reverse lookup zone, it is up to you if you want the PTR
records in the zone, either manually or dynamically.

Thanks for the quick answer.
I don't want to use the reverse lookup zone, but I wan't to avoid the DNS
forward request to the internet when someone is asking for reverse PTR
lookups.

I'm not quite sure if that question was clear enough in my posting ?

The only way to prevent DNS from forwarding a PTR request is to create the
zone so it is authoritative for the request.
That does not mean you have to create the PTR records.
