create overlay failure error

I have a laptop and I'm running windows xp on it. Everytime I try to watch a
DVD(movie) it gives me "create overlay failure". It suggest to lower the
resolution or colors to fix the problem. This however does not s0olve the
problem. Can anyone help?

Update to the latest available video card driver from the manufacturer.

Update the DVD player software.
