Since Outlook uses an "X" to delete content as well as exit the application,
I find that I frequently inadvertently click on the exit "X" when I intended
to click on the delete "X". Unfortunately, there is no way undo this error
an continue using the application. In the next revision of Outlook, please
please please include a dialog box that offers a way out of this
all-too-common error - something along the lines of "Do you really want to
exit Outlook?"

G'Day P,

What evidence do you have that this is an 'all-too-common error'?

If you look at:
http://office.microsoft.com/trainin...ID=RP010393601033&CTT=6&Origin=RC010393301033
you will find a list of all the shortcut keys for Outlook (2003) - they do NOT
include an 'X'.

There are a number of WINDOWS shortcut keys that are accepted in most
Windows applications (though not all).

Some of these 'drive' the Application's Menu System, like:
ALT + F, X (File Menu>Exit).

Others serve the Windows Clipboard to the Application, like:
CTRL + C (Copy), CTRL + V (Paste) and CTRL + X (Cut).

There's no way I can tell for sure, but I suspect you are using
CTRL + X (Cut) to 'delete' things, instead of the DELete key.

There is a huge difference between ALT + F, X and CTRL + X.

In any event, if you are using the keyboard you are responsible
for striking the correct keys.
