create an association folder

G

Guest

I am running windows XP and I defragmented some things and may have messed
up my folders.

I have saved some things in the RFT format and now when I try to access
these folders I get an error message saying (This file does not have a
program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association
in the folder options control panel. )

Any suggestions would be helpful.

RFT files are AI RoboForm Form Database, IBM DisplayWrite Revisable Format
Text or Revit Template files.

rtf is Rich Text Format. RTF files can be opened with WordPad or
MS Word and many other programs.

If you really saved some files as RFT and meant for them to be RTF, change
the extension for those files to rtf.

Right click an rtf file, click Rename, change rft to rtf and hit your Enter
key. Repeat for all rft files. Uppercase or lowercase letters make no
difference.

If they are already RTF or after you have changed them, right click an rtf
file, select Open With, click Choose Program, locate WordPad or MS Word,
check the box Always use the selected program to open this kind of file and
click OK.

Now any time you double click an rtf file it will open with WordPad or MS
Word.
