create a template document, which when used will automate a number

Need to create a template in word or excel, that when used will give the next
number eg the first time its opened will be number one. When opened the
second time it will be number 2 etc etc.
 
Looks great, but not sure what to do with it.

Should I create a template and call it Invoice then put this code on the tab
code of the sheet - in the ThisWorkbook rahter than just on Sheet 1(sheet1)
