Create a RamDrive?

How can I create a RamDrive?

Microsoft does this whenever it is installing Windows, so hopefully everyone
knows what I'm talking about.

I don't need something as low level as what Microsoft uses, but I'd like to
know how to create a virtual drive through Visual Studio (C++, C#, VB).

Is it possible? Who cares why - can it be done?
