Hi, I would like to have an invisible text box that gets its value from a
number of other text boxes concatenated together.

We have several different ways that chargelines can be valid and i was
hoping to make default values in some of the smaller text boxes be spaces so
that the overall chargeline when concatenated still works.

Is this possible?

Why?

Storing derived data such as this in your table accomplishes
three things: it wastes disk space; it wastes time (almost
any calculation will be MUCH faster than a disk fetch); and
most importantly, it risks data corruption. If one of the
underlying fields is subsequently edited, you will have data
in your table WHICH IS WRONG, and no automatic way to detect
that fact.

Just redo the calculation whenever you need it, either as a
calculated field in a Query or just as you're now doing it -
in the control source of a Form or a Report textbox.

Yes, if you are unwise enough to actually do it. What problem are you having?
Concatenating a NULL value to a string with the & operator will treat that
null as if it were a zero length string - e.g.

Me!txtConcatenatedMess = Me!txtA & Me!txtB & Me!txtC & Me!txtD

will take "This Is A", null, null, and "That was D" and put

This Is AThat was D

into txtConcatenateMess.
