I can't find the Imation and Verbatim CD-R blanks that I used to like.
Office Depot offers these instead:

The Office Depot Brand
Maxell
Memorex
Philips

Which do you think are the best quality?

Order what you want on-line.
But as far as I know, all are about the same. The "house
brands" are made by some other company and labeled, so they
may be by a number of unknown makers.

You can buy CD-R and CD-RW blanks at almost any store,
Office Depot, Office Max, Best Buy, CompUSA, and on-line.

Sam's Club is selling the Verbatim CD-R in 100 disk spindles. Use them all
the time without problem.

Truth is, there are only a few DVD\CDR manufacturers (Mitsubishi
Chemicals, Ricoh, Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, and a couple others) and the
rest just sell them with their name on it. The best CD-R blanks on the
market are the FujiFilm ones which are actually relabeled Taiyo Yuden
discs. Verbatim makes excellent CD-Rs as well.

If you don't want to order online (and don't care about cost), I would
go with the Memorex first, then the Maxell, then Philips, then Office
Depot Brand. It all depends on the cost and if you really care that
much about the data you are putting on the CD-Rs. I still have about
600 Blank CD-R's made by various manufacturers that I picked up for Free
after Mail in Rebate. These deals used to show up at least once a
month, but now you have to wait a couple of months between each deal

If you're in the U.S. you should look at your local Sam's Club for Verbatim.
They've carried them for years.

Thanks everybody. I think "Sam's Club" is Wallmart, no? I'll stop by
Wallmart tomorrow on my way to school and see if I can get a spindle.

Sam's is owned by Wal-Mart but are different stores. Sam's is a bulk
shopping club. Wal-Mart may not have the spindle CDs that I mentioned
earlier.

If you're in the U.S. you should look at your local Sam's Club for Verbatim.
They've carried them for years.

It used to be "back in the good old days", that all the highest grade
CD-R blanks were made in Japan and the wannabees were made in Taiwan.

The original Verbatims had a dark blue bottomside and were Japanese.
That gave me a warm fuzzy feeling about the long term safety of my data.

The latest 100 count spindle from Sam's contains a very different item:
a pale pale blue underside and a "Made In India" manufacturing origin
await you.

It would be nice if there was an up to date newsgroup or blog tracking
the best and latest stock qualities at all the big box stores, so those
who care would not have to buy a spindle, then learn the hard way after
opening it...

The last spindle I got from Sam's (just last week) were Verbatim with silver
recording surface. I burned 30 of them on a project I was working on at 48X
burner, 350 MB each, and had no failures. (I always do a copy of data from
the CD in a different CD-ROM drive to the computer's hard drive to test all
of my "manufactured" CDs.)
