cpuidle.exe

On my windows task manager Processes menu there's an
object called cpuidle.exe.
Username: System
CPU: 50

Is this a valid Windows XP program or a malicious prooram
that I need to remove? I believe it is taking up 50% of
my cpu capability if I am indeed reading the screen
correctly. Any help will be appreciated.
