CPU Negative

Thanks for helping.
I'm trying to run a game that needs around 250 MHZ, but this program that
comes with it that checks for compatibility says my CPU is minus 1294MHz. Can
this be right and what can I do to get it back to normal?
According to system properties I have a Intel Pentium 4 CPU, 3.00 GHz so why
is it negative? I dont think that I've been running anything particularly
huge recently, but I have recently got Broadband. Perhaps something is using
this to constantly search for updates?
Any help would be fantastic.

arithmetic overflow or improper use of a signed integer; a programming
error

It's an old game, I suspect, that never "expected" CPU speeds as fast
as yours. Does the game run? If yes, then it would be safe to ignore
it.

It is an old game (says will run on Windows 95/98/200/ME but not XP) so thats
problably it. But is there any way to get round this as I'd still like to
play it on this computer?

Thanks a lot! So after I install dualboot does it mean i get to choose
between XP and say 2000? The website says between 9x/ME and 2000 - is that
the same and can I just have some assurance that it doesnt fundamentally
change my PC - eg. speed, memory etc.?

Each operating system is separate from the other. You aren't replacing
hardware. Just how badly do you want to play this old game?

Was this game ever run on a machine with Windows 2000? If really
yes, then it should also run OK with Windows XP. Otherwise, try
to run the game in "compatibility" mode, e.g., Win98.

I do want to play it but if it means changing my computer a lot I'd rather
not. The way you put it makes it seem a bit of a risk - so what are the
dangers and if I wanted to afterwards can i just go back to pure XP? If the
virtual PC would work I'd trust that more as it's actually from MS.
Also I have got it to work on a laptop - but thats Win 98, not 2000.

Since reading the info leads you to the conclusion that it is more
trouble than it is worth, continue to play it on the laptop.
