G'evening folks,

My newly purchased Intel 4. cpu/fan is silent for the first 10 minutes
or so.

But makes annoyingly load once it gets hot from heavy cpu'ing ( i.e.
watching digital telly or computer games)

I removed all casing to help ventalation which doesn't hasn't helped.
I've thought about adjust the fan speed but am worried about
overheating ( its about 52 degrees )

Any suggestions to help quieten down my hair drier pc?

cheers bud's.

The retail Intel fan senses the computer case air temperature,
and speeds up when the case air gets hot. That helps compensate
for the reduced cooling effect you get when the case air
is warmer.

You can either improve the ventilation on the computer case, or
use a bigger aftermarket cooler, or both. This is an example
of a very large cooler, complete with a speed control knob.

On my computer case, I had to remove the front plastic bezel, and
the internal air filter, to get decent air flow. My case had a rear
120mm fan, but no place for the intake air to flow. It breathes better
with the bezel removed.

1. Did you apply thermal paste interface material between cpu and heatsink ?

2. Get a big cpu cooler/fan which moves lot's of heat away from cpu with
slow rounds per minute.

The bigger than fan the more air it can move and the more slowly it can
spin, the slower it spins the less noise is produced is my experience ;)

Bye,
Skybuck.

Change fan or keep your casing open

Change fan or keep your casing open
Check autofan setting, try 55 or 60C as target temp. Check cables not
blocking airflow through case. What case? What case fans? What direction
airflow? Should be in at front, out at rear.

But you don't have any experience. You've proved that here time and again.

Regardless, what he said is true.
