I was wondering if anyone can help me with my "issue". I have a dell
inspiron notebook, brand new running windows xp. It has Mcafee virus
protection. One thing just started and that is that if I want to go to
CS.com to check old email, after I put in my passord, mcafee pops up
and won't let me enter the site because it says that is could be
problematic. Even when i click on the banner to allow it, I still
can't access compuserve. I didn't have this problem the first couple of
weeks, just now, suddenly.

The second thing is that occassionally when I want to click on a link
of some kind within a website all I get is a little "blup" sound and
that's it. It won't bring me to the link.

Can anyone offer suggestions as to why this is happening.

McAfee has in my opinion always been over zealous in what it does.
Your problems could be a recent update the software applied to itself.
Also, as these Security suites take on more and more oversight they
tend to block items they really should not. Personally, I'm using eTrust
for A/V and Zone Alarm (Free) for firewall protection. Zone Alarm
requires more involvement in setting Allow/Block privileges, but you
have 100% control over what can and cannot access the web. I would
probably start at McAfee's Self-Help page:
http://ts.mcafeehelp.com/
If they have a customer forum, that would certainly help, but many of
these major Security vendors discontinued them due to the harsh &
blunt commentary of customers.

Hi,

in regards to your "little blup", try holding either the "Ctrl" or "SHIFT"
key on your keyboard down while clicking on the link.

It's most likely a PopUp Blocker, what causes this behavior.

Cheers,

Tom

To R. McCarty:
I think is sent my reply as an email to you. Not familiar with google.
Sorry. maybe you can post any response to the public forum here?

Thanks

This is so weird. Today I can access things that I couldn't yesterday
and when I went to google, I signed in and there are settings there
that were months ago and nothing of recent history. Couldn't access
compuserve for days and today it just popped right up after I signed
in. What's goin' on??
