Hi again,
I have a question about a possible design. I would like to have a database
that tracks vacancies at a school system. So I will start with the number 10
vacancies at a school. i would like to create something that when i filled
in a name that 10 would change based on the number of fields I filled in. Is
that doable?

It can be done, but there are several ways of doing it. Maybe if you
told us exactly how you want to use this number (build a report, display it
somewhere (where?) etc.) we might be able to help.

Thanks,
I would like to use the number to 1. keep track of when a position is vacant
or filled. For instance Monday someone may be in the position but by Friday
they could be moved. So I would like to be able to keep an accurate running
count and then produce that in a report format for distribution

Maybe someone else can figure that out, but frankly I just can't seem to
get my head around the needs.
