I am listing the participants in courses in a report and am trying to add a
count of participants for each course and for the department as a whole. I
can do this with no probelm in a query, but I don't know how to include that
information in a report.
Any advice?

Hi

You could use the grouping option and insert a group footer then place the
calculation in this.

Open the report in design view
Select the sorting and grouping icon
Add the field you wish t sort by (and count) from the dropdown list
Select group footer = Yes
Save the report

Next add an unbound text box into the footer section your have just created
use ths as the control source for the new box

=Count([FieldName])

Change FieldName to the name of the field you have grouped n aand this will
gie you a count.

If you would like to add more "layers" just add another group and sort and
include the count in that as well.

It may take a little time until you get it to look like you want but once
you have it you will find it very simple to do this type of activity

Good Luck

Thank you very much!! It worked perfectly.
