Counting misc object in cells

Hi,

hoping someone can shed some light on this.

I want to sum a column that contains the following symbol "•".

The following formula does not work.

=COUNTA(C5:C35, "•"), where "•" would count for 1, and an unfilled cell
equals 0.

Help appreciated.
