counting hours

1/2/2008 04:00 16:30 12.5

i need to break down the total hours figure into normal hours and time and
half hours
its time and half between 20:00 and 05:00 and also go onto time and half
after 10 hours
does anyone know how i could do this, thanks

In your example, of the 12.5 total hours, how many are regular and how many
time-and-a-half? Does the hour worked from 04:00 to 05:00 count towards the
10-hour regular time limit, or not?

Also, can any of the shifts span midnight?
